Description THIS COURSE EXAMINES NEUROSCIENCE CONCEPTS AND THEIR RELEVANCE IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION, WITH A FOCUS ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE HUMAN NERVOUS SYSTEM AND CHILDREN'S LEARNING PROCESSES. STUDENTS WILL LEARN HOW THE STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION OF THE NERVOUS SYSTEM INFLUENCES MOTOR, COGNITIVE, LANGUAGE, SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL AND MORAL ABILITIES IN EARLY CHILDHOOD. TOPICS INCLUDE STAGES OF DEVELOPMENT OF THE NERVOUS SYSTEM, THE MAIN STRUCTURES AND MECHANISMS OF ACTION OF THE NERVOUS SYSTEM, NEUROPLASTICITY, AND NEURODEVELOPMENTAL DISORDERS IN CHILDREN. STUDENTS WILL ALSO EXPLORE NEUROSCIENCE-BASED LEARNING STRATEGIES THAT CAN SUPPORT CHILDREN'S OPTIMAL DEVELOPMENT. BY UNDERSTANDING NEUROSCIENCE PRINCIPLES, STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO BE ABLE TO DESIGN STIMULATIVE AND RESPONSIVE LEARNING ACTIVITIES, AS WELL AS CREATE AN EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT THAT SUPPORTS HOLISTIC GROWTH AND SUITS CHILDREN'S INDIVIDUAL NEEDS.
